Swedish Massage

Swedish massage is the most common massage modality received by those new to massage. It focuses on creating general relation within the body, lessening scar tissue, and helping the healing of minor injury. Swedish includes light to medium pressure on the body's soft tissue applied through five basic stroke that all move in the direction of the heart, helping to improve blood circulation, decrease body toxins, and improve general circulation.

Chair Massage

Chair massage takes place in a specially designed massage chair instead of on a table. The massage is performed fully clothed and without oils or lotion and usually lasts anywhere from 15-45 minutes. Chair massage focuses on the upper body areas, including the back, head, neck, and shoulders. Chair massage is great for students and working professionals as it releases tension and relieves pain symptoms commonly associated with repetitive movements such as sitting at desks and leaning over workstations for long hours.

Deep Tissue Massage

This massage modality focuses on the relief of chronic aches and pains in all areas of the body. Beginning with light pressure that preps the muscles, the massage slowly and comfortably transitions into longer and more firm strokes that work deeper into the fascia (connective tissue around the muscles) to begin breaking the scar tissue and knots that disrupt circulation, limit mobility, cause inflammation, and feed chronic aches and pains.

 

Pre-natal

Prenatal massage is a great way to relieve some of the common challenges of pregnancy. Your prenatal massage will vary from the techniques used in a standard massage in that your therapist has special training in working with the pregnant body and will customize your massage  to the unique needs of the pregnancy and your changing body. The massage can help relax tense muscles, ease sore spots, improve circulation and mobility, reduce migraine and tension headaches, increase energy, reduce cramping, and help put you in a relaxed state of mind.

Sports Massage

Sports massage is ideal to help athletes of all athletic abilities levels recover from sports related injuries, speed recovery/prevent injuries, or help increase performance endurance. Sports massage is tailored to each individual athlete but generally focuses on helping heal muscle-tendon junctions, increasing hip and appendage range of motion. This massage modality is tailored to the needs of individual athletes and is useful both as a pre or post training and athletic performance regiment. When incorporated regularly into a training regiment, massage can help increase performance and prevent injury. When incorporated into a post training or athletic event, massage can help speed recovery times and prevent post event injury.
